CONTINUANCE OF A SCHEDULED HEARING:
A request for continuance of a scheduled hearing must be submitted
to the court in writing, include the compliant number, hearing
location, hearing date, and the name of the person requesting the
continuance. The reason
for the request must be specific and include supporting
documentation. Mail, fax
or email your request to one of the addresses noted above.
If you do not receive a decision on your request prior to the
scheduled hearing, the hearing will go forward as scheduled.
CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS:
Go to
www.Vermontjudiciary.org
to pay a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint or Municipal Complaint.
The compliant number, defendant’s name, and an email address
are required. An online
credit card payment will take up to three business days to reach the
Judicial Bureau. If your
fine is due within the next three days, or your privilege to operate
a motor vehicle is due to suspend within the next three days, please
pay your fine in person at the Judicial Bureau in White River
Junction.
EXTENSION OF TIME TO PAY A FINE:
An extension of time to pay a fine must be requested in writing
prior to the due date and include a minimum payment of $30 per
violation. This
privilege is not available for debts over $500; for debts that have
been referred to collections; and will not stop the action on a debt
that has been referred to the Tax Department.
Mail your written request with a check or money order to the
Vermont Judicial Bureau.
Credit card payments are not accepted for an extension of time to
pay.
SUSPENSION OF YOUR PRIVILEGE TO OPEARATE A MOTOR VEHICLE:
A debt owed the Vermont Judicial Bureau must be received by
the court at least three business days prior to your suspension in
order for payment to be processed, DMV notified, and compliance
entered.
TAX OFFSET:
If you’ve received notice that your Vermont tax refund has
been offset to pay a Vermont Judicial Bureau fine, an offset
has already been processed by the tax department.
The court may not receive this offset for up to three weeks
after your notice was mailed.
If you recently paid a fine and the offset creates an
overpayment, a refund check will be processed approximately 30 days
after the offset has been processed by the court.
