For economic cause, the probate judge may waive this fee. No fee shall be charged for necessary documents pertaining to the opening of estates, trusts and guardianships, including the issuance of two certificates of appointment and respective letters. No fees shall be charged for the issuance of two certified copies of adoption decree and two certified copies of instrument changing name.   32 V.S.A. 1434(b)

Family, Superior, Environmental, District, Probate, Judicial Bureau Copies or certified copies of Court Records
  • $.60 per folio with minimum fee of $1.00 (on average, 1 page contains 3 folios)
  • $ 5.00 for each official certificate which includes certified copies.
  • $ 5.00 for authentication of documents, Except For state agencies and veterans or their dependents for records needed in prosecuting any claim for benefits or as specified in 32 V.S.A. 1434(1)
  • Note: the above per folio charge shall only apply when copies are reproduced in long-hand or by typewriter.
  • Copies of court records or other court materials produced by photocopy equipment shall be charged at the rate of $.25 per sheet provided that a $1.00 minimum fee is charged. However, if you perform a certification or authentication of a photocopies record, the statutory fee for certification of authentication still applies. For example a certified copy of a record would be $ 5.25 ($.25 for the photocopy, $ 5.00 for certification
  • State agencies shall not be charged a fee for infrequent, low volume use of the court’s copying machine.
  • For copying of materials that are not court documents, individuals who use a court machine or state agencies whose use is frequent of high volume, shall be charged and billed at $.05 a copy. A copy of this bill is to forwarded to the Court Administrator’s Office.
  • NOTE: One conformed copy of any document issued by the Courts shall be furnished without charge to a party of record to the action.
