PURPOSE:
This position involves advanced clerical and technical work with
supervisory and administrative responsibilities of a complex, difficult nature.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Scheduling and
processing court cases.

Supervision over
other clerical staff may be required.

Prepares and
processes paperwork for various court dockets, schedules hearings, prepares
orders, findings, and disposition orders.

Sets misdemeanor
bail.

Receives fines, fees
and bail and posts appropriate accounts.

Performs tasks as
required to insure good service to the public and efficient operation of the
court.

Provides technical
assistance and procedural information to the public, as required.

Issues oaths, signs
court documents, supervises special projects and acts as general administrative
aide to the Manager and/or Judge as necessary.

Manages district
court in the absence of the District/Family Manager.

Recommends changes
to improve clerical procedures used in the District Court System.

Electronically
records hearings in the courtroom.

Assists litigants,
attorneys and other court users.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
(Required to perform the essential functions of the job.)
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Five years of clerical or secretarial work.
College training may be substituted for the work
experience on a year-for-year basis.
A Bachelor's Degree with a major in a related field may
be substituted for the total experience requirement.

Ability to type at a corrected rate of thirty-five words
per minute is required.

Knowledge of office
practices, procedures and equipment.

Ability to work
under pressure in a hectic environment.

Ability to type
accurately and at a rate of 45 WPM

Ability to exercise
good judgment, tact and courtesy in dealing with the public, officials, and
attorneys.

Skill in
communicating orally and in writing.

Considerable
knowledge of court and office priorities as required for efficient case
scheduling and utilization of bench time.

Considerable
knowledge of the type of cases within the Court's jurisdiction.

Ability to
independently supervise and coordinate the activities of the office staff.

Ability to recognize
and solve problems not requiring the District Court Clerk's attention.

Ability to solve
problems related to court and office procedure.
-
Ability to act for
the Court Manager in the manager's absence.
