Jury Duty Scams

The Vermont Judiciary is warning the public to be on the alert for a phone scam where the caller impersonates law enforcement officers threatening them with prosecution for failure to appear for jury duty and an arrest warrant has been issued. The caller will try to collect personal information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers or any other confidential information.

These calls are not legitimate. To protect your privacy, do not provide your social security number, credit card number, or mother’s maiden name over the phone. The court will never call to ask you for this information.

You may call the Jury Administration Office at 802-865-5879 to verify jury duty or you may report this scam with Vermont Attorney General’s Consumer Assistance Program at 800-649-2424.
