It is important to the public and the Vermont Judiciary that Vermont attorneys continue their legal education while practicing law. Thus, the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Board ensures that the Rules for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education are followed by all practicing attorneys in Vermont.  The MCLE Board is authorized to accredit courses and activities for CLE credit, to oversee compliance with its Rules among attorneys, and to report non-complying attorneys to the Vermont Supreme Court.

The MCLE Board is comprised of seven persons appointed by the Supreme Court. One member must be an active or retired judge, four members must be attorneys, and two are lay persons.
